Recently, Professor Jin Biao and Xu Chenwu of the School of Agriculture of Yangzhou University published the latest research results in the journal Genome Biology entitled "Mutation Research on Whole Genome DNA of Arabidopsis under Multi-generation High Temperature Stress".
Climate warming has become one of the hot issues of global concern.
Mutation is the basis of biological inheritance and variation, and the fundamental driving force of biological evolution.
After more than 10 years of hard work, the research team used the model plant Arabidopsis (short growth cycle, small genome, clear genetic background) as research materials, and successfully obtained population pedigrees and single seed pedigrees with different high temperature and multiple generations.
The team further analyzed and found that the mutation site distribution patterns of plant populations and strains used to measure mutation accumulation in the experiment were significantly different, indicating that the population was subjected to a stronger selection effect.
This study reveals the mutation rules of plants under the trend of environmental warming.
