The price of southern durians dropped from 150-160 baht per kilogram in early June to a low of 100-110 baht
.
The main reasons for the fall in the price of durian in the south are as follows: China Customs has strengthened the detection of the new crown epidemic , repeated problems with raw durians, and applied GAP ( Good Agricultural Practice ) certificates .
Thailand is the world's largest durian exporter, while China is the world's largest durian consumer market
.
Before exporting Thai durians, it is necessary to submit Good Agricultural Practice (GAP) certification and international production standard (GMP) certification to the General Administration of Customs (GACC) of China to apply for agricultural product certification (DOA).
Durians that are allowed to be exported must have corresponding DOA numbers.
To facilitate traceability

The main reasons for the drop in durian prices in southern Thailand are as follows:
·The fruit picking in the garden resulted in some unripe fruits being picked and mixed into the ripe fruits to flow into the market
.
Since entering the durian season, the Thai government has repeatedly notified and instructed relevant departments to investigate the influx of raw durians into the market and export, and severe penalties will be imposed if those involved are found
.
According to the relevant provisions of the Thai Consumer Protection Law, the sale of immature durians will face up to 6 months in prison or a fine of not more than 50,000 baht (about 10,500 yuan), or both

· Chinese ports have strengthened the risk detection of the new crown epidemic, and the waiting time for security clearance at the ports has increased from the previous 5-7 days to 10-12 days
.
The longer transportation time makes the fruit ripen in advance and breaks the shell, which affects the overall quality.
The price can only be sold at 200-300 baht/kg, which is nearly half less than the previous 630-650 baht/kg

.
· China's customs department has increased the detection of the new crown virus, and will be destroyed on the spot once problems are found, which has slowed down the acquisition of orchards
.
.
·The application of Good Agricultural Practice (GAP) certificates is more obvious in the south, which reduces buyers’ willingness to purchase
.
.
· As the weather turns hot and other fruits are on the market in large numbers, Chinese consumers' demand for durian has cooled slightly, and the market has also declined
.
.
According to the Thai Durian Association, some of the southern durians produced in early June had quality problems and were difficult to enter the terminal market.
Currently, the production area has been intensified
.
If the problem of inferior durians can be solved, coupled with the opening of Dongxing Port, alleviating the congestion problem at Mohan Port and the Friendship Port for importing goods from Vietnam, the transportation system will be more convenient.
It is expected that durian export prices will rebound in August and September
