The reform of the ecological environment damage compensation system has achieved obvious results

Bie Tao, Director of the Department of Regulations and Standards of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, stated on the 25th that as of November this year, more than 7,600 cases of compensation for ecological damage have been handled across the country, involving more than 9 billion yuan in compensation, and effective restoration of soil, groundwater, and cultivated land has been promoted.

The eco-environmental damage compensation system has been deployed since 2015.

At the regular press conference held by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment on the same day, Bie Tao said that since the reform of the ecological environment damage compensation system has been piloted and fully piloted for more than five years, it has initially established clear responsibilities, unobstructed channels, technical specifications, strong guarantees, and compensation.

The reporter learned that a total of 327 supporting documents have been formulated across the country for the consultation, investigation, appraisal, and use, management and supervision of compensation funds for ecological environment damage compensation disputes

"All localities strictly pursue compensation for damage to the ecological environment to make up for the lack of administrative penalties and administrative accountability, strive to solve the unreasonable situation of pollution caused by enterprises, victimization of surrounding people, and ultimately government payment, and earnestly implement the most stringent system proposed by General Secretary Xi Jinping.
