Russia’s "Izvestia" earlier on the 30th cited experts’ assessments that milk prices may rise.
These experts believe that changes in the environmental tax system starting in 2022 may lead to higher food prices.

Abramchenko’s press office said: “The new environmental tax will not lead to an increase in prices regardless of whether it is assessed by experts or calculated by the Ministry of Economic Development.

The Press Office reminded that Russia has levied environmental taxes for many years, and the new producer responsibility extension mechanism will not cause any financial burden.

The Information Office explained that from 2022, all packaging entering the market must be recycled.
This is because of the existing environmental protection reality and the huge pressure on the environmental protection system caused by the short life cycle of products and packaging.

The new extended producer responsibility system (EPR) concept adopted at the end of 2020 stipulates that 100% recycling of packaging will be implemented from 2022, and producers should be responsible for its recycling.
