After the pressure vessel of the No.
5 reactor arrived at the site, the engineers transported it directly to the gantry of the No.
5 nuclear island to prepare
for the subsequent installation operation.
The reactor pressure vessel, one of the most critical equipment of the nuclear power plant, is located in the center of the nuclear island plant, about 13 meters high, about 4 meters in diameter, and weighs more than 300 tons
.
It contains the reactor core, reactor components, control rods and other components, and is a container device
for maintaining and controlling nuclear fission reactions.
After the operation of the unit, the reactor pressure vessel will work under the state of 155 atmospheres and more than 300 degrees of high temperature and high pressure, and its manufacturing has the characteristics
of high quality requirements, technical difficulty and complex process.

Unit 5 is the first unit of the second phase of the Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Project, which started construction

At the end of this year, Unit 6 will also enter the installation stage
of the main equipment of the nuclear island.
