The South American Pacific submarine cable system SAPL will be expanded

Recently, ASN, a subsidiary of Alcatel-Lucent Submarine Cable, signed a cooperation agreement
with Ocean Networks, a marine network company, on the SAPL expansion project of the South American Pacific submarine cable system.

Under the agreement, Alcatel-Lucent Submarine Cable Networks ASN will build the SAPL extension of the submarine cable system connecting Panama and Florida, enabling a transpacific connection between Hawaii and South America, and the cable length will be extended from nearly 3,000 kilometers to 14,200 kilometers
.

Dubbed the Caribbean Express of the South American Submarine Cable Network (SAPL CX), the extension will land in northern Florida, connecting Miami, Florida, Oahu, Hawaii, Balboa, Panama, and Santiago
, Chile.

Alcatel-Lucent said the SAPL submarine cable system extension was built to meet the growing demand for ultra-broadband in the Pan-Pacific region and strengthen the role of
digital connectivity in the region's economic development.
In addition, the cable system will connect Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, northern Chile and the Big Island
of Hawaii through the construction of branches.
