waterfowl
breeding and nutrition science and technology innovation team revealed
the molecular mechanism of
green shell egg formation, providing important reference for green shell egg and duck molecular selection and bird shell color evolution research. The findings were published online in Molecular Ecology.
Green shell
duck eggs
eggshell strength is high, not easy to break in the processing, well received by enterprises and consumers, and conventional breeding needs to be tested to identify the male duck genotype, low efficiency, poor accuracy, resulting in most egg and duck varieties green shell status can not be fixed, affecting the value of varieties. Therefore, it is important to identify the cause-and-effect gene and cause variation of duck-green shell.
researchers resequenced the entire genome of individuals in the color-separated population of green-headed ducks and Beijing duck eggshells, positioning the genes that determine the egg's sex in the duck-green shell in the 179kb region of chromosome 4. The candidate area was reduced to 30kb by using the reconsorted historical information and esolyped-single-multiply correspondence of 7 local varieties. Further transcription group analysis showed that the ABCG2 gene transcripts in the region had significantly higher expression levels in the glands of green-shelled eggs and ducks than in white-shelled individuals. After further screening, it was finally determined that an SNP in the ABCG2 gene promoter region was the cause of the mutation, which affected abcG2 transcription activity, and the gene-coded transfilm transport protein participated in the transport of biligrel in ducks, which in turn affected the color of the eggshell. This study provides a precise molecular marker for the color selection of duck eggshells, and also provides a reference for the study of bird ecology and evolution.
It is learned that in order to systematically analyze the genetic basis of the important economic character of ducks, the team launched the "Thousand Ducks X Group" program in 2015, which has successfully located the main gene that determines the duck feather color, body size, muscle fiber diameter, egg quality and other important economic characters.
