In the energy index recently released by the World Energy Council (WEC), Switzerland, Sweden and Denmark ranked among the top three
in the world.
The World Energy Council ranks the capacity of 128 countries to provide sustainable energy through three dimensions: energy security, environmental sustainability, and energy equity
.
The top ten countries are Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Finland, France, Austria, Luxembourg, Germany and New Zealand
.
"The ranking measures overall performance
in achieving a sustainable policy mix," the IEA said in its report.

The report also highlights the Asia-Pacific region's place
in the global energy mix.
"Despite China's slowdown, continued economic growth in India and many emerging Asian countries will affect not only the region's energy landscape but also the world in the future," the
report said.

Among the countries and regions in the Asia-Pacific region, only 9 countries and regions ranked above 50% overall: New Zealand (10), Azerbaijan (57), Australia (28), Japan (31), Hong Kong (34), South Korea (37), Singapore (43), Brunei (56) and Malaysia (51); Only one country (New Zealand) is in the global top 10
.
The index shows that the region needs to be further strengthened
in terms of energy security and sustainability.
In terms of energy security, the top ten countries and regions are Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Latvia, Canada, Angola, Ukraine, Romania, Slovenia, the Czech Republic,
In terms of energy equity, the top 10 countries and regions are Luxembourg, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Saudi Arabia, the Netherlands, Ireland and Singapore
.
In terms of environmental sustainability, the top 10 countries and regions are Switzerland, Germany, Sweden, France, Norway, the United Kingdom, Costa Rica, Luxembourg, Namibia and Slovenia
.
From 2000 to 2019, the ten countries and regions with the fastest improvement in the global energy index were Cambodia, Myanmar, the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Eswatini, Israel, Ghana, China, Kenya and Lebanon
.
