The two phases of construction of the Far East Submarine Cable Project were completed
    .
On September 27, Rostelecom and Huawei Marine jointly announced that the construction of the Kamchatka-Sakhalin section of the Russian Far East Submarine Cable Project (PVOLP
    ) has been completed.
    The completion ceremony
was attended by Sergei Ivanov, former Chief of Staff of the President of Russia and director of Rostelcom, and Ilyushin, governor of Kamchatka Krai.

The Far East Cable Project is 1,855 km long, connecting Kamchatka, Sakhalin and Magadan regions
    .
The initial capacity is 400 Gbps, which can be subsequently expanded to 8Tbps
    .
After the completion of the Kamchatka-Sakhalin section of the cable, it is expected to officially enter commercial operation
    in January 2017.

Sergei Karukin, President of Rostelecom, said: "The construction of this cable in the Far East is of great
significance to the people of the Far East and Rostelecom.
Due to geography and climate, the construction of this submarine cable is very complex from a technical point of view, and we laid almost 2,000 km of submarine cable and 250 km of land cable, passing through extremely cold areas
    .
Through this cable, 150,000 people in Kamchatka, Sakhalin and Magadan regions will have access to high-speed and stable Internet service
    .

Mike Constable, CEO of Huawei Marine, said: "This cable will enable the Far East to enjoy the economic and social benefits
    of high-speed networks.
I am confident that the successful completion of this submarine cable once again demonstrates our team's determination and ability
to put our customers at the center of overcoming harsh environmental challenges and ensuring delivery.
    " ”
