The UK and India have announced £4.
8 million nuclear energy research projects
This is part of the Civil Nuclear Energy Program, which will look at the next generation of more efficient and safer reactors, better prediction tools, better understanding of the impact of cyberattacks on nuclear power plants, and the most effective response strategies
.
Organizations that will be involved in the research project include the University of Sheffield, the University of Manchester and Imperial College London in the United Kingdom, as well as the Indira Gandhi Atomic Research Centre and the Baba Atomic Research Centre
in India.
The announcement came during a visit to New Delhi, India
, by British Science and Technology Secretary Sam Gyimah.
The two governments also renewed a memorandum of understanding focusing on environmental challenges and underscored the desire to use science and innovation to address some of the grand challenges they face, including the threat of climate change and energy consumption, and to use technological advances to create opportunities
.
