The UK government's long-awaited strategic plan for modern industry has been welcomed by the
paint
industry, particularly given the policy uncertainty caused by Brexit. The strategic plan identifies key weaknesses, areas of focus and business opportunities facing UK industry today, and points out that addressing the issues will effectively drive future growth in the UK paint industry.
strategic thinking is based on the UK government's green paper on a new industrial strategy for the future, which essentially kicks off the UK government's next consultation process with the companies involved. The UK government has pledged selective support for industrial development, including science, research and innovation, as well as energy, infrastructure, skills training, exports and in-house investment.
Bowtell, chief executive of the British Coatings Federation (BCF), commented: "The BCF has been calling for a new industrial strategy and is pleased to see the government create opportunities for participation from all walks of life. The new strategy means that the government will work closely with the industry to create a range of opportunities to help drive future growth in the industry, from the perspective of new technology development and ensuring key investments, which is critical for the coatings industry. Governments and industry must now work together to integrate these pillars into a strategic framework and to provide measurable and proven results. The coatings industry serves many priority industries that contribute significantly to GDP, and the coatings industry is considered the key to the success of many priority industries. Ellen daniels
public affairs and policy at the British Coatings Federation, said: "The right industrial strategy for the paint industry will provide a platform for future success for the UK economy. The fact that the Prime Minister has personally announced these plans demonstrates the Government's commitment to building partnerships between businesses and all levels of government. "
