British Prime Minister Theresa May will announce £106 million in funding
for research and development of green electric vehicles, batteries and refueling technologies.

The new international Birmingham Declaration, which aims to lay the groundwork for the global deployment of green vehicles and the introduction of smart infrastructure, will be signed by 11 countries, with more to follow

Signatories include Belarus, Denmark, France, Indonesia, Italy, Portugal and the United Arab Emirates

The UK electric vehicle industry has also announced investments of more than £500 million in low-emission technology projects that are expected to create 1,000 jobs
in the UK.
Theresa May added: "I would like to see the UK once again become a leader, working with countries around the world to lead the electric vehicle revolution

That's why I've set an ambitious mission for this country to put the UK at the forefront of zero-emission vehicle design and manufacturing, and to make all new cars and vans zero-emission
by 2040.
Today, we are providing over £100 million in funding for innovators in ultra-low-emission vehicles and hydrogen technology, with a further £500 million in investment
from key sectors in the sector.

The government has also announced £2 million in funding for e-bikes and plans to provide green license plate clean cars, vans and taxis under the new scheme to raise awareness
of ultra-low emission vehicles.
