    The U.S. Trade Representative announces tariffs on seafood from India, Italy and West

    News from SeafoodMedia on June 7th, US Trade Representative Dai Qi announced that the trade investigation of 6 countries involving Austria, India, Italy, Spain, Turkey and the United Kingdom regarding the digital service tax related content in "Article 301" has entered the next stage.
    Possible measures currently include imposing punitive tariffs on the aforementioned countries .
     
    The Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) launched an investigation into DST on June 2, 2020
    .
    The final decision of the investigation is to impose additional tariffs on certain commodities in these countries, but the tariffs will be suspended for up to 180 days, providing additional time to complete the ongoing multilateral negotiations on international taxation between the OECD and the G20
    .

     
    Among the six countries listed, the seafood products of India, Italy and Spain face an additional 25% tariff
    .
     
    These seafood include:
     
    India:
     
    -Cold water shrimp and prawns: cooked or raw shrimp in shell, dried shrimp, marinated or saltwater shrimp, frozen shrimp;
     
    -Cold water shrimp and prawns: shelled or peeled shrimp, live shrimp, or chilled shrimp;
     
    -Other shrimps and prawns: shelled or peeled shrimp

    Italy:
     
    -caviar;
     
      -Caviar made from fish eggs
    .
     
      Spain:
     
      -Cold water shrimp and prawns: cooked or raw shrimp in shell, dried shrimp, marinated or saltwater shrimp, frozen shrimp;
     
      -Other shrimps and prawns: shelled or raw shrimp, dried shrimp, marinated or saltwater shrimp, frozen shrimp;
     
      -Frozen octopus;
     
      -Shrimp and prawns in non-sealed containers: shrimp meat and semi-finished products;
     
      -Shrimp and prawns in non-sealed containers: other types and semi-finished products;
     
      -Octopus: Contains fish meat or semi-finished products

      The United States is committed to finding multilateral solutions to a series of key issues related to international taxation.
    US Trade Representative Dai Qi said in a statement that the United States remains committed to reaching consensus on international taxation issues through the OECD and G20 processes.
