The conference brought together scientists, managers, fishermen and aquaculture operators from all over the world to promote international cooperation in fisheries science, conservation and sustainability.

Due to COVID-19 related restrictions in 2019, the conference was postponed from October last year to September 20-24 this year.
Kitto said that this year's conference will be held face-to-face and online, which makes the conference more extensive than ever.

Speakers will include global fisheries policy experts such as Peter Thomson, UN Special Envoy for Oceans and Professor Katsumi Tsukamoto, winner of the International Fisheries Science Award.
Participants and exhibitors can apply for government funding ranging from A$5,000 to A$250,000 to help cover the cost of attending the conference.
