The world's longest 420kV XLPE submarine cable system was completed
A few days ago, the French Nexans Group successfully laid a 90 km 420 kV XLPE insulated submarine cable system, which is the longest and deepest submarine AC cable system laid in the world, which also means that Nexans has set a new record
in these two aspects.
According to reports, this cross-linked polyethylene submarine cable connects Mongstad and Kollsnes, Norway, with a voltage level of 420 kV and a total length of 90 km, using three parallel single-phase cables for laying, with a depth of up to 390 meters, and the length of this deep laying cable reaches 22 km
.
Tom Skattum, project manager at Nexans Norway, said that the cable was laid using Nexans' newly upgraded C/S Nexans Skagerrak submarine cable vessel, and in the offshore area, all submarine cables are protected
by HDPE pipes or other means.
It is reported that the submarine cable required this time is produced by Nexans in Halden, Norway, the submarine cable laying was completed at the end of last month, followed by the construction of the landing station terminal facility, which is expected to be delivered for testing
this autumn.
