Obese people have a higher risk of chronic cough
Recently, Thorax, an authoritative journal in the field of chest diseases, published a research article.
Researchers recorded 44,554 adults with chronic cough, body mass index (BMI) and other related clinical diseases from the Copenhagen general population study, and excluded individuals with asthma and/or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (n=10977)
Risk of chronic cough based on BMI
Among the 33577 adults from the general population, 27829 (83%) were non-obese and 5748 (17%) were obese
diabetes
It can be seen that there is a dose-response relationship between BMI and chronic cough, and the risk of chronic cough in obese individuals is twice to three times that of the general population
