Noble metal nanoclusters have great application prospects in optical sensing, biological imaging and other fields, but the low luminous intensity of gold or silver nanoclusters limits their application as fluorescent nanomaterials Recently, it has been found that the luminescent intensity of silver nanoclusters doped with a small amount of gold atoms has increased dramatically by tens to hundreds of times Because of its inherent micro nature is not clear, further experimental exploration and practical application are limited Professor Cui GANGLONG, academician Fang Weihai, School of chemistry, Beijing Normal University, and Professor Michael dolg, University of Cologne, Germany, cooperated to reveal the relativistic effect of doped gold atom and gold for the first time on the basis of accurate calculation of excited state electronic structure and detailed analysis of emission spectrum- The electronic structure and luminescent properties of gold doped silver nanoclusters are controlled by the co polarization effect of silver bond, which can significantly enhance the luminescent intensity of the nanoclusters In addition, it is predicted theoretically that the spatial structure of Ag nanoclusters will change with the number of Au atoms The theoretical work provides a new idea and direction for the experimental creation of noble metal nano luminescent materials with excellent performance Relevant achievements were recently published in "the origin of the photoluminescence enhancement of gold doped silvernanoclusters: the importance of relative effects and heteronuclear gold silverbonds" in German Applied Chemistry (angel Chem Int ed 2018, 57, 9965) The school of chemistry of Beijing Normal University is the first unit, Professor Cui GANGLONG and Professor Michael dolg are the corresponding authors of the work, and Dr Xie Xiaoying is the first author This work was supported by the excellent youth fund and Science Center of NSFC.
