▎Editor of WuXi AppTec's content team recently, a study published at the 2021 Endocrine Society Annual Meeting (2021 ENDO) showed that people who started eating before 8:30 in the morning had lower blood sugar levels and insulin resistance levels, which helped to reduce Risk of Type 2 Diabetes.

Insulin resistance occurs when the body does not respond well to the insulin produced by the pancreas and the ability of glucose to enter the cells is reduced.

People with insulin resistance may have a higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

Both insulin resistance and high blood sugar levels affect a person's metabolism and the process of breaking down food into protein, carbohydrate, and fat.

When these normal processes are disrupted, metabolic diseases such as diabetes will occur.

Lead researcher, Northwestern University in Chicago (Northwestern University in Chicago) Dr.
Marriam Ali said: "With the increase in metabolic diseases such as diabetes, we hope to deepen our understanding of nutrition strategies to help solve this growing problem.

Previous studies have found , Limited time eating (shortening the daily eating window) has been showing improvements in metabolic health.
    The
research team wanted to know whether eating early every day would affect metabolic indicators.

"Image source: 123RF researchers analyzed data from 10,575 adults.

They divided the participants into three groups based on the total food intake time: less than 10 hours a day, 10-13 hours and more than 13 hours a day.

According to the start time of eating (before or after 8:30 in the morning), they are further subdivided into 6 groups (3×2).

The data is then analyzed to determine whether eating time is related to fasting blood glucose levels and estimated levels of insulin resistance.

The data found that there was no significant difference in fasting blood glucose levels among the three groups with different durations of food throughout the day.

The shorter the eating duration, the stronger the insulin resistance, but it will decrease if the eating start time is earlier than 8:30.

    Dr.
Marriam Ali said: "We have found that people who start eating earlier in the day have lower blood sugar levels and less insulin resistance, whether it is to limit the eating time to less than 10 hours a day, or to spread the eating time.
More than 13 hours a day.

The results of these studies show that the timing of eating is more closely related to metabolic indicators than the duration of eating, which supports the strategy of eating earlier.
