According to a report by Global Energy News on May 29, Total announced the acquisition of shares in Hysetco, a French company dedicated to the development of urban hydrogen power.

The Hype project aims to demonstrate the feasibility of zero-emission hydrogen-fueled vehicles in urban transportation for the first time on a large scale.

By acquiring a 20% stake, Total has joined Hysetco's historical shareholders: STEP (Société du Taxi Electrique Parisien), Air Liquide, Toyota and Kouros.

Currently, Hysetco has about 700 taxis in Paris, most of which will still be diesel vehicles, and will gradually transition to pure hydrogen vehicles by 2024.

Patrick Pouyanné, Chairman and CEO of Total, stated that the acquisition is a concrete commitment and acceleration of Total in terms of hydrogen liquidity.
