Narayan Gaire and Zaw Zaw , postdoctoral fellows in the Tree Ring and Environmental Evolution Group of Banna Botanical Garden , under the guidance of Researcher Fan Zexin, collaborated with Nuremberg University Erlangen in Germany, Tribhuvan University in Nepal and Nepal Academy of Sciences in the Karnali watershed in western Nepal.

Related results are published in the Journal of Hydrology under the title " Increasing extreme events in the central Himalaya revealed from a tree-ring based multi-century streamflow reconstruction of Karnali River Basin " .

The research was funded by the General Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the International (regional) Cooperative Research and Exchange Program, the International Postdoctoral Program of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Young Top Talents of Yunnan Province
