Tunisia's Saphon Energy has reportedly developed a bladeless wind turbine called "Saphonian" with a design inspired by the sails
    of ancient Carthaginian vessels.
Saphon Energy emphasized that after testing, Saphonian generates twice as much electricity as conventional paddle
    generators.

Saphon Energy says this wind turbine is lighter, safer and more efficient than traditional wind turbines, generating twice as much electricity as conventional wind
    turbines.
The generator is inexpensive and especially suitable for developing countries, such as in some areas
of India where there is no grid in place.

Saphon believes that a relatively small number of Saphonian can provide sufficient power
for the entire village compared to traditional generators.
"We plan to run a project of 50 Saphonian units in India, each Saphonian can generate 20 kilowatts, and a wind farm can produce one megawatt of electricity
    .
The electricity produced in South India alone could power 1,000 households
