    Recently, the Tunisian government is laying the groundwork
    for the development of a giant solar project in the country's Remada region, located in the Sahara region of Tunisia.
    It is understood that the country's Ministry of Mines and Renewable Energy recently held a meeting with the United Nations Development Plan and other entities to discuss the
    details of the project in early August.

    The solar project aims to help the region achieve three main goals: creating conditions for the development of organic agriculture; improving travel in the Sahara Desert in Tunisia; Promote R&D activities
    related to innovative technologies in desert areas.

    The project aims to improve security along Libya's borders, which have been volatile
    over the past few years due to Libya's internal conflict.

    The first phase of the solar project, which will be implemented between 2018 and 2020, will deploy 200 MW of solar projects, establish grid connections, and establish an international center
    to support the project, in addition to developing 5,000 hectares of agricultural land, building roads, villages and infrastructure.

    In addition, Tunisia plans to add 500 MW of photovoltaic power assets, another 15,000 hectares of agricultural land and other infrastructure
    in the second phase between 2021 and 2025.
