    Turkey revises import quarantine measures for tomato, pepper and pumpkin seeds

    On September 14, 2021, Turkey issued Circular G/SPS/N/TUR/119/Add.
    1 through the WTO, amending the emergency phytosanitary measures for imported tomato , pepper and pumpkin seeds .
    Previously, Turkey notified the revision of the import requirements for tomato (Solanum lycopersicum), pepper (Capsicum annuum) and pumpkin (Cucurbita pepo) seeds through G/SPS/N/TUR/119, G/SPS/N/TUR/119 Circular /Add.
    1 revised the content in Circular G/SPS/N/TUR/119, and the main content after the revision is as follows:
     
    1.
    For tomato seeds imported from various countries from September 15 to November 15, 2021, the phytosanitary certificate is required to carry an additional statement stating that the exporting country has analyzed the seeds by RT-PCR and found that they do not contain Tomato mottle mosaic virus (ToMMV), tomato topping virus (TASVd), goldfish flower latent virus (CLVd), pepper small fruit virus (PCFVd) and tomato chlorotic dwarf virus (TCDVd)
    .

     
    2.
    For tomato seeds imported from various countries from November 15, 2021, the following additional declarations are required on the phytosanitary certificate:
     
    (1) It is from a country where ToMMV, TASVd, CLVd, PCFVd and TCDVd have not been found; or
     
    (2) From areas where ToMMV, TASVd, CLVd, PCFVd and TCDVd are known to exist:
     
    • Theseeds are sourced from production sites where the above-mentioned viruses and viroids are not known to exist;
     
    •Indicate the name of the place of production; and
     
    • Theexporting country has analyzed the seeds by RT-PCR and found that they do not contain ToMMV, TASVd, CLVd, PCFVd and TCDVd
    .
     
    3.
    For pepper seeds imported from various countries from September 15 to November 15, 2021, the phytosanitary certificate is required to have an additional statement stating that the exporting country has analyzed the seeds by RT-PCR and found that they do not contain tomato mottle.
    Mosaic virus (ToMMV), tomato topping virus (TASVd) and pepper small fruit virus (PCFVd)

    4.
    Starting from November 15, 2021, pepper seeds imported from various countries are required to carry the following additional declarations on their phytosanitary certificates:
     
    (1) It is from a country where ToMMV, TASVd and PCFVd have not yet been found; or
     
    (2) From areas known to have ToMMV, TASVd and PCFVd:
     
    • Theseeds are sourced from production sites where the above-mentioned viruses and viroids are not known to exist;
     
    •Indicate the name of the place of production; and
     
    • Theexporting country has analyzed the seeds by RT-PCR and found that they do not contain ToMMV, TASVd and PCFVd
    .
     
      5.
    Before the issuance of the new SPS notification, the additional declaration conditions for imported pumpkin seeds in the G/SPS/N/TUR/119 SPS notification shall be revoked

      1.
