According to the latest statistics released by Turkey's state-owned grid operator TEIAS, Turkey's cumulative registered PV capacity has reached 5 gigawatts (AC)
as of the end of November 2018.
According to these data, in the first 11 months of the year, grid operators registered 1,581 MW of photovoltaic systems, of which a single project not exceeding 1 MW accumulated 1,518 MW, and the remaining about 63 MW were large projects for construction permits, under the external tender of the national government for licensed construction
.
Most of the capacity was registered in the first quarter of this year, when TEIA?'s official statistics included 1,170 MW of new projects
.
In November, the newly registered photovoltaic power generation capacity reached 78.

Overall, small, unlicensed solar parks still account for the vast majority of Turkey's total cumulative PV capacity, at around 4.
92 GW, while solar parks with a capacity of more than 1 MW account for only 81.

However, not all 5 GW of cumulative capacity may be connected to
the Turkish grid.
In fact, several experts in Turkey's solar industry have questioned the grid operator's own data over the past few months, with some claiming that some projects may simply be registered but not connected to the
grid.

Günder recently released a new solar map, predicting that Turkey's cumulative solar PV capacity will reach about 14 GW
by 2023.
