Turkish companies will build Kosovo's first wind farm

Recently, energy company Guris, considered one of Turkey's leading renewable energy power plants, is building its first wind farm
in Kosovo.
The plant is working to meet the EU's renewable energy standards

The country's first wind farm, nine 110-meter GE turbines, will begin operations
in September.
The plant is expected to meet 3% of the country's energy needs

Geris project manager said in an interview, "We will produce 110 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year, enough to meet the needs
of 10,000 homes.
”

Kosovo, which typically has 14 billion tonnes of lignite reserves, still provides 95 per cent of its energy
from two older coal power plants.
Lignite is considered the dirtiest coal

He also said that "Kosovo's wind energy should exceed the planned 150 megawatts

" The Kosovo government needs to define new quotas for us, so we can invest in a second project
that will increase capacity.
The wind here is good, this is a very valuable resource, and Kosovo needs it

It was revealed that an Israeli company also plans to build a 105-megawatt wind farm
in the north of the country.
