    Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has approved a proposal by Pacific Carriage Limited (PCL) and Southern Cross Cables Limited to land and operate the Southern Cross NEXT submarine cable system
    in the United States.

    According to reports, the system connects Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Samoa, Tokelau, Kiribati and California (USA).

    The new Southern Cross NEXT cable is expected to receive RFS certification in January 2022, bringing the total design capacity between Sydney (Australia), Auckland (New Zealand) and the United States to 72Tbps

    At the same time, the FCC agreed that RTI Connectivity (RTI) will land and operate the JGA-N submarine cable system connecting mainland Japan, Guam, and northern Australia to the southern United States in a total area of approximately 2,600 kilometers and a design capacity of 24Tbps

    of the JGA-S submarine cable system.
