UN calls for equal recognition of all WHO-approved coronavirus vaccines

The official website of the United Nations published an article on July 1, calling on all countries to equally recognize all the new crown vaccines approved by the World Health Organization (WHO), that is, when countries allow passengers who have been vaccinated against the new crown to enter, the vaccines approved by the WHO for emergency use should receive equal access.

The report stated that the "Coronavirus Vaccine Access Mechanism" (COVAX) is based on the principle of equitable access to the new crown vaccine to protect the health of people around the world

The "New Crown Vaccine Access Mechanism" believes that if different vaccine recipients are treated differently, it will lead to the formation of a dual system, further widening the global vaccine gap, and exacerbating the already existing inequality in the distribution of new crown vaccines

The report pointed out that the unequal measures taken on approved vaccines have weakened public confidence in vaccines

The Mechanism commends the commitment to fairness and safety shown by countries that recognize all WHO-certified vaccines, and calls on other countries and regions to follow suit

Vaccines that have entered the WHO Emergency Use List include Pfizer/Biotech Vaccines, AstraZeneca-SK Bio Vaccines, Serum Institute of India Vaccines, AstraZeneca (EU) Vaccines, Janssen Vaccines, Moderna Vaccines, Sinopharm Vaccines and Sinovac vaccine

Although the United Nations report did not have a clear direction, the EU's new crown "green digital certificate" officially took effect on the same day.

For tourists from outside the EU to travel to Europe, major EU countries also limit the vaccinated objects to the 4 EMA-approved vaccines in their entry regulations

At present, the EMA is reviewing emergency use applications for vaccines such as China's Sinopharm and Russian Satellite 5, but there is no clear timetable
