Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is expected to solve the above-mentioned shortcomings of optical imaging.

The new method in this study has four main advantages: 1.

In addition to tumor tissue, the microscopic magnetic imaging technology in this study can also be used in other biological tissues to carry out tissue-level imaging in the fields of immunity and inflammation, neurodegenerative diseases, cardiovascular diseases, biomagnetic induction, magnetic resonance contrast agents, and magnetic targeted delivery.

This work is the result of academician Du Jiangfeng's team following the realization of single-molecule magnetic resonance spectroscopy [Science 347, 1135 (2015); Nature Methods, 15, 697 (2018)] and 10nm-level resolution cellular magnetic imaging [Sci.

Specially appointed associate researcher Chen Sanyou, doctoral students Li Wanhe and special professor Zheng Xiaohu are the co-first authors of the paper, and Academician Du Jiangfeng and Professor Shi Zhanfa are the co-corresponding authors of the paper.
