On April 1, 2022, the Uzbekistan branch of the Russian Satellite News Agency reported that Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed relevant departments to propose proposals to reduce import consumption taxes and tariffs on some products

These measures are expected to not only stabilize the prices of these products, but also reduce them to some extent

In February 2022, Mirziyoyev signed an amendment to the tax code that extended until May 2022 the elimination of VAT on imported food

In addition, until May 1, 2022, the authorities removed import duties on bananas and citrus fruits in order to stabilize the domestic prices of these products
