In recent years, Vietnamese fruit trees have increased
in terms of area, productivity and yield.
Due to the diverse ecological conditions, fruit tree products in Vietnam are available all year round, and many different kinds of fruit trees
    can be grown.
According to statistics, at present, the area of fruit trees in the country exceeds 1.
1 million hectares, the average output is expected to reach more than 10 tons/ha, and the total output is expected to reach 11 million tons/year
    .

Vietnamese fruit products are exported to more than 60 countries and regions, among which the major export markets are China, Japan, the United States, Russia, South Korea, etc
    .
However, fruit tree production also faces many difficulties due to the lack of a model of fruit tree production in accordance with the value chain; In some places, the area of fruit trees is still scattered, small in scale and not highly concentrated, which causes difficulties
in infrastructure investment, production docking organization and product quality control.

At the same time, due to strong seasonality and short harvest time, fruit products are not easy to store and transport, are easy to deteriorate, and have a large
    postharvest loss rate.
In addition, the number and scope of linkages between farmers and production cooperatives and maquiladoras are limited, and the activities of the chainwork remain loose and inefficient
    .

In addition, the overuse of fertilizers and chemical pesticides has affected food quality and safety
due to the effects of climate change such as drought, seawater intrusion or disease.

In order to improve the productivity and quality of fruit trees, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has just decided to approve a proposal
for the development of the main fruit trees until 2025 and 2030.

The goal of the proposal is the sustainable development of workhorse fruit trees; It contributes to
creating employment, increasing income, increasing export value, promoting the restructuring of agricultural industry, stabilizing people's livelihood, developing economy and society, and ensuring national defense and security in rural areas.

On this basis, by 2030, the national fruit tree area will reach 1.
3 million hectares, and the output will exceed 16 million tons
    .
Among them, the area of the main fruit trees is about 1 million hectares, and the output is 13 million to 14 million tons; Fruit exports amounted to approximately $6.
    5 billion.

In order to achieve the above goals, all localities need to determine the scale of concentrated fruit production areas in provincial and municipal plans and other relevant plans; Link the development of fruit growing areas with product preservation and processing
    .

In addition, it is necessary to promote the chain of connection from the construction of planting areas to the
processing of consumer products into fruit and vegetable production.
Simultaneous measures are needed to support the breadth and depth of cooperatives, which play an important role as a bridge between businesses and farmers in fruit and vegetable production
    .

For farmers, it is necessary to take the initiative to connect with enterprises through cooperatives to form centralized fruit production areas, and combine
them with the construction of planting area codes for product traceability and sales products.

In addition, scientific and technological progress should be applied simultaneously in the production, preservation and processing of fruit products; Reorganize production to form a concentrated and large-scale main production area for fruit trees, and combine it with the development of processing plants and consumer markets; Continue to implement the policy
of attracting enterprises to invest in the construction of fruit tree product processing plants.

On the other hand, continued investment in the protection of genetic resources; Select, cultivate and import new fruit tree varieties with high yield and high quality, resistant to diseases and pests, and adapted to climate change; Develop a plan to support agriculture for advanced farming, and make production docking according to the value chain; Intensive cultivation and advanced technology transfer in centralized planting areas of main fruit trees according to GAP and organic standards; Apply high technology
in the production, processing and storage of products.

Localities have achieved significant results in supporting organizations and individuals to brand fruit products related to geographical indications; Fruit Tree Product Exchange; Trade promotion activities to enable domestic consumers to have sufficient knowledge
    of fruit tree products.

As for export markets, all localities continue to closely cooperate with ministries, commissions and enterprises to take measures to expand export markets; The focus is on producing products according to the market demand of the importing country and eliminating trade barriers; Vigorously adopt various measures to promote the export of fruits to the Chinese market in the form of positive trade; At the same time, it will continue to expand markets
in Japan, the United States, Canada, South Korea, Russia, Southeast Asia, the European Union, the Middle East, and North Africa.
