(NDO) Despite being hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic and China’s suspension of customs clearance services at many ports, Vietnam’s agricultural exports in the first 11 months of 2021 have achieved many positive results, with exports increasing by 18.

    Ms.
Nguyen Kam Trang, Deputy Director of the Import and Export Bureau of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam, said at a regular press conference of the Ministry of Industry and Trade held recently that China has recently adopted very strict epidemic prevention measures to prevent the spread of the epidemic through border ports
    .
This is the main reason for the detention of goods and vehicles at the border crossings in northern Vietnam
    .

The Vietnamese government has instructed relevant departments to work hard to solve this problem
    .
At present, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam have negotiated with the Chinese side to take emergency measures, unify the customs clearance process, and extend the customs clearance time at ports
    .

Based on the efforts of all parties, some ports have been reopened.
For example, on January 10, the Dongxing port in Guangxi, China has resumed customs clearance
    .
From January 12, Vietnamese dragon fruit can be exported to China through Lao Cai port
    .

Vietnam and China signed the ASEAN-China Agreement on Trade in Goods (ACFTA), in which Vietnam negotiated zero-tariff concessions for exported agricultural products
    .
Vietnam also participates in the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP)
    .
But negotiations on quality control have been slow, so so far only nine products have been approved for export to China
    .

In addition, the negotiation process on the quarantine of goods is slow, so all Vietnamese fruits and vegetables exported to China are subject to quarantine, while the figure in Thailand is only 30%
    .
This is a major difficulty for Vietnamese agricultural products to be exported to China
    .

      Ms.
Nguyen Kam Trang pointed out that efforts should be made to improve the quality of exported agricultural products, optimize the structure of export products, diversify export markets, and promote official trade exports to the Chinese market.

In addition, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam cooperated with the Ministry of Transport to propose solutions and measures to the government to solve the congestion at the port of Gilai
    .
The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam also suggested that the Vietnam Logistics Association and the Seaport Association take measures to reduce storage fees and work with enterprises to tide over the difficulties
