Vietnam's VnExpress website reported on November 30 that benefiting from the zero import tax of the ASEAN-India Agreement on Trade in Goods (AIFTA) and the price advantage of Indian rice itself, according to data from Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade, Vietnam's imports of rice from India have surged since 2020, reaching 46,700 tons, an increase of more than 9 times
    year-on-year.
By 2021, Vietnam will import nearly 1 million tons of rice, of which 72% will be Indian rice
    .
Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade is worried that the large import of low-priced and low-quality rice will affect domestic production and indirectly affect food security, and believes that it is necessary to formulate rice import management regulations and tighten import policies
