Given the timely capture of recovery needs in most markets and taking advantage of free trade agreements, Vietnam's seafood exports reached about US$11 billion in 2022, which is a remarkable step
    .

In 2022, the seafood industry has seized the strong recovery demand in most markets in time, using raw materials stored at the end of 2021 to boost production, and export seafood products to the United States, the European Union, China and other markets, said Truong Dinh Huai, secretary-general of the Vietnam Seafood Processing and Exporters Association, said that in 2022, the seafood industry has seized the strong recovery demand in most markets, using raw materials stored at the end of 2021 to boost production, and exporting seafood products to the United States, the European Union, China and other markets, with export prices rising by an average of 15-60%

As a result, as of the end of November 2022, Vietnam's seafood exports reached US$10.
2 billion, an increase of nearly 28% over the same period in 2021, completing the established plan
    for 2022 ahead of schedule.
Among them, the export of cha fish increased by 63%, with an export value of nearly 2.
3 billion US dollars, and shrimp earned more than 4 billion US dollars, an increase of 14%.

Tuna exports grew second, up 40 percent to $941 million, while exports of squid and octopus also rose a significant 30 percent to $704 million
    .

The export value exceeded $10 billion because of strong growth in the first three quarters of this year, as well as good market demand, rising export prices and sufficient
    supplies of raw materials.

Especially after the signing of a series of new generation free trade agreements, aquatic and seafood products are also the products
that benefit the most from free trade agreements.
Therefore, the entry into force of the FTA not only brings opportunities for export promotion, but also boosts Vietnam's aquaculture, fishing and processing industries to improve their management capacity and quality, so as to achieve sustainable development
    .

Vietnamese enterprises have effectively used the FTA to expand Vietnam's exports
to six major markets, including the United States, the European Union, China, ASEAN, Japan and South Korea, which account for 90% of the export value.
Among them, Vietnam's exports to the parties of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership increased by 30%
    in 2022.

In 2023, Vietnam's seafood and aquatic industry will face many challenges
such as the shortage of raw materials for export processing.
This is because enterprises encounter many difficulties
in obtaining aquaculture land, inadequate attention and development of aquaculture infrastructure conditions, and quality of seedlings.

Not to mention, consumer demand in the market will slow due to financial difficulties, leading many importers to consider new contracts
    more cautiously.

Hu Guoli, chairman of Shengta Food Co.
    , Ltd.
, said that aquatic and seafood enterprises cannot stand idly by when they encounter difficulties, and must find solutions and coping strategies
    .
One of the important solutions is that companies must restructure
    .

In order to promote the stable development and growth of the seafood industry in 2023, enterprises expect the government to maintain the stability of aquaculture land planning policies, develop more potential aquaculture areas to ensure the supply of raw materials for export processing, and improve the competitiveness of
Vietnamese aquatic products, according to the Vietnam Seafood Processing and Exporters Association.

At the same time, support measures are taken to stabilize aquaculture costs, in particular the price of aquafeed and seedlings; Flexibly and moderately adjust the exchange rate of the US dollar to be more favorable
    for exports.
