Vestra Energy announced that a 180MW Upton 2 solar farm in West Texas has become commercially operational
    .
The solar installation is the largest operating photovoltaic facility
    in Texas.

Luminant, Vistra Energy's power generation subsidiary, will serve as the owner of the plant and also be a qualified dispatching agency
for the Texas Electric Reliability Commission (ERCOT).

Vistra Energy originally purchased the solar project in May 2017, when the site was under development
    .

Vistra's President and CEO said, "When we announced this project a year ago, we knew that Upton 2 was a perfect fit for Vistra's integrated business model
    .
Through this project, we are enabling TXU Energy, a Texas retail store brand, to enhance its retail solar offerings, while we are also diversifying
    Luminant's generator fleet.
This project is strategic for us as a business, and we're excited to officially power
    Texas this summer.
    " ”

It is understood that the project covers an area of nearly 769 hectares and consists of
    718,000 photovoltaic panels.
With its power generation capacity, the unit has enough energy under normal weather conditions to power
approximately 56,700 average homes on the market.
In the event of a spike in demand, it could also supply electricity to 27,700 homes
    .
