French renewable energy company Voltalia will install renewable energy systems
for local MNTI networks at 171 telecom towers located in Myanmar's Bago and Ayeyarwaddy districts.
MyTel is a telecommunications operator jointly controlled by the Myanmar National Telecommunications Group and Vietnam's national telecommunications operator
Viettel.
The 10-year contract with Voltalia will provide 2 kilowatts of power at each of the 171 locations and is expected for future collaborations
on more towers.
Of these 171 telecommunications towers, 80 percent of the electricity is not connected to the national grid
.
Voltalia will initially install batteries and thermal generator sets to start generating electricity
as soon as possible.
After that, the solar panels will be added and connected to the energy management system
connected to the telecom tower.
