WACKER Chemical recently announced that it will invest millions of dollars to build a 3D printing laboratory in the United States to meet the growing demand for add-on manufacturing technology products and services in the North American market. The lab, based at WACKER's silicone research and development center in Ann Arbor, Michigan, is scheduled to be launched by the end of the year.
this will be the ACEO brand's first facility outside Germany, while 3D silicone components will be produced by the Borghausen ACEO campus
China
. The lab will feature two high-performance 3D printers that can print silicone elastomer of different colors and hardnesses. WACKER's ACEO 3D printing technology enables innovative design and construction of complex components, as well as low-cost small-volume production and spare parts production.
will promote ACEO technology globally in the future. "North America's 3D printing market is the largest and most active, and when the new printing lab is completed, we will be able to better demonstrate the wide range of applications of liquid silicone rubber 3D printing technology to our local business partners," said Bernd Pachaly, CEO Project Leader, North America. "The Borghausen ACEO Center campus in Germany will continue to be responsible for the production and delivery of silicone printed parts; The Annaborg Laboratory in the United States focuses on providing clients with project consulting, including silicone-based product development for key industrial sectors such as medical technology, healthcare, transportation, aerospace, and electronics, laying the foundation for WACKER's global network of silicone elastomer 3D printing services.
