July 17, reporters from the Qinghai Salt Lake Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences was informed that the institute jointly
Guiyang Geochemistry Research Institute, the Red Cliffs area of Da Chaidan (Mars analog area) carried out an 11-day field scientific expedition. It provides important scientific and technological support for simulating the construction of Mars base, and also lays the foundation for the reconstruction of the later geological environment and the in-depth comparison with Mars.
This scientific examination covers more than 200 square kilometers, and systematically investigates the main features and evolutionary history of the topography, climatic environment, rock type and geological structure of the Red Cliff area of Dachaidan, and studies the similarities between the surface and site of Mars in terms of topography, climatic environment, etc.
11 researchers were divided into three sub-teams of basic geology, surface environment and Martian geomorphological features. The basic geological team is mainly responsible for the formation, structure, sedimentation and other research work in the region, along the deep valley (groove) work. The scope of work of the surface environment team covers the entire research area, mainly for the sampling of surface soil vegetation and the identification of species. The Mars Geomorphological Team is primarily responsible for finding terrain and topography that can be compared to Mars.
