Wang Ertao's research group has made significant progress in the study of arbuscular mycorrhizal symbiosis "self-regulation"

On October 12, 2021, Wang Ertao's research group at the State Key Laboratory of Plant Molecular Genetics published a cover paper entitled "A Phosphate Starvation Response (PHR)-centered network regulates mycorrhizal symbiosis" in the top international academic journal Cell.

Phosphorus is an important component of plants, and it participates in many enzymatic reactions and signal transduction processes in plants

Mycorrhizal symbiosis is a common symbiosis relationship in nature: host plants provide a carbon source for mycorrhizal fungi in the form of fatty acids for their growth and reproduction (Jiang et al.

The study used the promoters of mycorrhizal symbiosis-related genes in rice as bait to screen the rice transcription factor library and mapped out the transcriptional regulatory network of rice-arbuscular mycorrhizal symbiosis for the first time, and verified multiple transcriptional regulation of arbuscular mycorrhizal symbiosis.

SPX is a receptor for phosphorus.

In order to obtain a good harvest of food, a large amount of phosphorus-containing fertilizers are applied in agricultural production, which seriously pollutes the ecological environment.

Shi Jincai, a postdoctoral fellow at the State Key Laboratory of Plant Molecular Genetics, is the first author, and researcher Wang Ertao is the corresponding author
