Psoriasis is a common chronic inflammatory skin disease commonly known as "psoriasis"

On January 12, 2022, the team of Wang Honglin from Shanghai Institute of Immunology, Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine/Shanghai First People's Hospital Clinical Research Institute published a paper entitled "Lidocaine Ameliorates Psoriasis by The Journal of Investigative Dermatology, a classic dermatology journal.

Clinically, monoclonal antibody biologics drugs for psoriasis, such as anti-TNFα, anti-IL-23, anti-IL-17, etc.

Wang Honglin's research group is committed to basic translational research in the field of psoriasis, and has cooperated with Associate Professor Li Qifang and Professor Yu Buwei of the Department of Anesthesiology of Ruijin Hospital to establish a clinical-basic research team for anesthesia treatment of psoriasis

Mechanistically, the team established a rat epidural catheter model and found that epidural administration of lidocaine significantly improved psoriasis-like skin inflammation in rats, and its efficacy was better than that of anti-TNFα and tofacitinib (JAK).

This study is the first to propose an innovative clinical strategy to directly target sensory nerves in the treatment of psoriasis, and to reveal the regulatory effect of lidocaine on the sensory nerve-CGRP-DC interaction system in this therapy, which provides clinical evidence for the clinical treatment of psoriasis.

The first authors of the paper are Yin Qianqian and Sun Libo, doctoral students in Professor Wang Honglin's team, and the corresponding authors are Professor Wang Honglin, Associate Professor Li Qifang and Professor Yu Buwei
