WAPA Releases 2021 Southern Hemisphere Production Forecast, Apple Slightly Increases

The output of apples in the southern hemisphere in the 2021 season is expected to increase by 6% year-on-year, while the output of pears is basically the same as the previous year.

 

　　In terms of apples, the total output of the southern hemisphere in 2021 will reach 5.

Among them, Australia, Brazil, and South Africa increased by 23%, 20%, and 6%, New Zealand reduced production by 5%, and Argentina and Chile were the same as the previous year.
Compared with the average annual output from 2018 to 2020, the total output of apples in the southern hemisphere this season will increase by 2%.
Chile is still the largest apple producer in the southern hemisphere, and its output is expected to reach 1.

As in previous years, Packham's Triumph and William (Williams BC/Bartlett) are the main varieties, accounting for 36% and 28% respectively.
The total export volume this season is expected to increase by 6% year-on-year to 708,700 tons.
Among them, Argentina accounted for 374,400 tons, an increase of 12%, South Africa, 214,400 tons, an increase of 2%, and Chile, 108,300 tons, a decrease of 3%.
