Live pigs are one of the pillar industries of China's agriculture

The study used comparative developmental genetics methods to analyze the transcriptomes of 27 skeletal muscles in the growth and development stages of Chinese fat-Tongcheng pigs and Western lean-Landrace pigs, and systematically analyzed the transcriptional regulation of pig skeletal muscle growth and development.

Studies have found that the growth and development of skeletal muscle of Chinese and foreign pig breeds are not synchronized, and differences in muscle cell proliferation, glucose metabolism and ATPase activity are the key to the difference in meat production traits between the two

Combined with genome-wide variation analysis, a number of key coding genes (SATB2, etc.

This research provides important candidate genes and sites for molecular breeding of pigs, and is of great value for the development and utilization of high-quality local pig germplasm resources in China and the cultivation of new pig breeds (lines) with independent intellectual property rights

This research was funded by the key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Science and Technology Innovation Project of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and the key projects of basic and applied basic research of Guangdong Province
