Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide.
In this large-scale epidemiological study, researchers used whole-genome sequencing technology to analyze genomic changes in tumor tissues and matched normal tissues.
As the researchers expected, because the study in this article was limited to people without a history of smoking, the researchers did not find any mutations associated with direct exposure to tobacco smoke, nor did they find any mutations in 62 patients exposed to second-hand smoke.
In the future, researchers will study populations of different races in Beijing and geographic locations, and the exposure history of lung cancer risk factors in these populations has been well described; currently researchers are studying how these tumors transform, and relevant analysis shows that from Discarded patients who have not smoked may have a certain degree of heterogeneity or diversity in their bodies
