Recently, Wärtsilä was selected to provide highly efficient engine power units
to one of Argentina's most important oil companies.
The gas-fired power plant has an initial output of 57.
4 MW, which can be increased to 90 MW
    later.
The electricity generated will be mainly used to power local oil fields, and any excess electricity will be sold to the national grid
    .
Wärtsilä's order includes a complete engineering, procurement and construction project and was booked
in the fourth quarter of 2018.

The Manantiales Behr basin is one of Argentina's most important oil fields, and the new Wärtsilä plant will improve the efficiency of electricity supply in the region by replacing the existing gas turbine plant
    .
The plant will use five Wärtsilä 31SG engines, the most efficient gas engines
    in its class.
The Wärtsilä solution balances the intermittent power supply from adjacent wind farms from start-up to full output in less than two minutes, effectively delivering a hybrid energy system
    .

In addition to outstanding efficiency, the Wärtsilä 31SG engine is capable of operating
    in harsh climatic conditions.
Site conditions in the Manantiales Behr basin include wind speeds of up to 180 km/h and temperatures ranging from -10 degrees Celsius to 40 degrees Celsius
    .
The plant is expected to be fully operational
    in October 2020.
