XLCC was approved to manufacture HVDC submarine cable in Scotland

Recently, the Planning Committee of North Ayrshire Council decided to grant XLCC planning permission
for its HVDC submarine cable manufacturing business in Hunterston, Scotland.

As permitted, ground will be broken in the coming months to create a new UK industry to support global decarbonisation targets

Once fully operational, the facility will support 900 jobs in the region and thousands more in the broader supply chain

XLCC's first order is to produce four 3,800km cables for the Xlinks Morocco-UK power project to connect solar and wind renewable energy generation in the Sahara to the UK

Alan Mathers, XLCC Project Director, said: "We look forward to providing HVDC Submarine Cable with a plant
of local and international significance.
The UK will be positioned as a world leader in the green economy, with the Hunterston plant playing a key role
in connecting cheap green energy from renewable energy projects around the world.
