He graduated from the Department of Soil Chemistry of the Agricultural University of China in 1956, received his Ph.D. in Biology from the Moscow University of the former Soviet Union in 1962, visited Michigan State University and the Plant Laboratory of the U.S. Department of Energy as a senior visiting scholar, and was the chief scientist of the first Batch of China's Key Basic Research and Development Program (973) "The Patholytic And Application of Photocodychemical Efficient Light Energy Conversion in Agriculture". Yan Tingyun has made outstanding contributions to the development of china's photo-cooperation, has had an important impact in the field of photo-cooperation research at home and abroad, and has

The Asia-Oceania Congress of Photobiology is an important regional conference in the field of photobiology, held every 2 years to explore how photobiology research can better provide theoretical and technical guidance for future life sciences and sustainable social development, especially in agriculture, energy and medical industries, and to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation among countries in Asia and Oceania in the field of photobiology research and promote application and development in related fields.
