Recently, Yara International announced that the company will jointly develop a project aimed at using renewable hydrogen to replace fossil hydrogen to produce synthetic ammonia with the world’s leading offshore wind power developers.
The goal of the project is to develop a 100 MW wind power electrolysis plant for the production of renewable hydrogen and supply renewable hydrogen to the Yara Sluiskil Synthetic Ammonia Plant to produce synthetic ammonia.
Yara admitted: “Hydrogen produced from renewable energy provides a carbon-free way for fossil hydrogen, but the current production cost is still much higher.
It will take time to close this cost gap, and it will rely on public support to supplement private Investment in renewable hydrogen and ammonia production.
” The final investment decision to build a new plant may be made at the end of 2021 or early 2022 .
