The visibility and demand for bifacial power generation PV modules is growing rapidly, but there is still a lack of testing and evaluation standards
for such products.
TÜV Rheinland has cooperated with Chinese solar company Yingli in research and testing, and expects to launch the first bifacial module standard specification
soon.
At present, the international photovoltaic industry test standards are written for traditional single-sided power generation products, which are not suitable for evaluating the performance of bifacial power generation modules, nor can they accurately test the electrical parameters
of bifacial modules.
This affects the indication of module power, causing buyers and sellers to have a great difference in their understanding of power; Such differences in power labeling perception can also directly affect the end system, making design and planning difficult
.
Dr.
Christos of TÜV Rheinland has led the development of IEC60904 bifacial module test methods since this year and formed a discussion group to solve this problem
.
Yingli Solar actively participated in several rounds of draft discussions, actively cooperated with the verification test, and eventually became one of
the first enterprises to complete the draft test.
Recently, Yingli's N-type bifacial modules have obtained the first batch of officially calibrated components of the draft test method for TÜV Rheinland bifacial modules, and obtained the final test report
.
In 2016, Yingli began to cooperate with the Beijing Xinheng Certification Center, a third-party certification body in China, to jointly compile the "Bifacial Power Generation Module Electrical Performance Test Method" photovoltaic industry association standard, and has now entered the stage of joint data comparison test
.
In the same year, it obtained the double-sided power generation product certification issued by Zhengheng, becoming the first and only enterprise
in China to obtain the double-sided power generation product certification.
Yingli Solar officially launched the "Panda" series of N-type bifacial power generation modules in 2016, and officially passed the China National Acceptance of the Frontrunner Base Project
in May 2017.
The cumulative power generation of the 50MW Yingli N-type bifacial power station reached 60.
88 million kWh after 10 months of grid connection, and the average monthly power generation was about
10~15% higher than that of general polycrystalline solar power plants.
