On July 1, 2016, Yingli Green Energy announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Yingli Energy (China) Co.
, Ltd.
("Yingli China"), has completed the 50 megawatt (MW) "frontrunner" solar photovoltaic project in Datong, Shanxi, and successfully connected to the grid
at the end of June 2016.
As part of the National Energy Administration's (NEA) "Frontrunner" program, the PV project is located in the coal mining subsidence area of Datong City, Shanxi Province, which is the country's first demonstration base
for advanced optoelectronic technology.
The project uses Yingli TwinMAX60 cell bifacial series modules, frameless double glass modules integrated with Yingli's PANDA (n-type monocrystalline solar cell) technology, and the module efficiency can reach 18.
8%.
The project is expected to have more than 80GWh of solar capacity per year, enough to power
37,000 typical homes.
Miao Liansheng, Chairman and CEO of Yingli, commented: "We are honored to complete the 50 MW Frontrunner project and use the TwinMAX bifacial series of modules, which have high
