What were the main demands of the striking workers at CMOC's Tenke Fungurume Mining (TFM) unit in Congo?

The striking workers protested a new collective bargaining agreement negotiated between TFM and a labor union delegation, stating they were excluded from the discussions; they are seeking better pay conditions, including a housing allowance and improved healthcare.

What consequences did TFM announce for employees who continued the strike beyond its deadline, and what incentives did it offer to non-striking workers?

TFM gave employees a deadline of last Wednesday night to return to work, warning that those who failed to comply would face 'immediate dismissal proceedings'; it offered a $500 'loyalty bonus' to workers who did not participate in the strike, and double that amount ($1,000) to those who were attacked for refusing to join, citing 'courage and devotion'.
