Revenue of RMB 3.62 billion in half a year! DSM-Firmenich is leveraging HMOs to drive premiumization of infant formula in China.

Recently, DSM-Firmenich released its financial results for the first half of 2026. During the reporting period, the Group achieved revenue of €4.664 billion (approximately RMB 36.2 billion), representing a 5% year-on-year increase in sales—exceeding the market consensus forecast of €4.63 billion. Adjusted EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) amounted to €900 million (approximately RMB 7.025 billion), up 7% year-on-year. From the financial data, DSM-Firmenich’s performance in the first half of 2026 showed growth in both revenue and profit, reflecting strong momentum from its core businesses. Frederic M. D. de Vries, CEO of DSM-Firmenich, stated that the company expects full-year comparable sales growth to reach the upper end of its 2026 target range of 2%–4%. Following the successful divestment of its Animal Nutrition & Health business in 2025, DSM-Firmenich currently operates three major business segments: Fragrance & Beauty; Taste, Texture & Health; and Human Nutrition & Care. Fragrance & Beauty A top-performing segment, generating €1.948 billion in H1 revenue Sales in this segment rose 7% year-on-year to €1.948 billion (approximately RMB 15.2 billion); adjusted EBITDA reached €424 million (approximately RMB 3.31 billion), up 6% year-on-year. Growth was primarily driven by high-end fine fragrances and the innovative Popscent technology for odor control in laundry products. Meanwhile, DSM-Firmenich continues to expand its R&D and production capacity in the Fragrance & Beauty segment—not only completing the establishment of the Popscent manufacturing facility in Singapore, the creative lab in Riyadh, and the R&D office in Manhattan, but also scaling up production capacity for fragrance ingredients Helvetolide and Romandolide in France to support future growth. Taste, Texture & Health Strong Q2 turnaround; H1 revenue of €1.634 billion The Taste, Texture & Health segment generated €1.634 billion (approximately RMB 12.75 billion) in revenue during the first half of 2026, up 4% year-on-year; adjusted EBITDA increased 3% year-on-year to €321 million (approximately RMB 2.506 billion).

On-site coverage from the Asia-Pacific Pet Expo: DSM-Firmenich boldly showcases its capabilities—pet food has become a strategic growth platform.

"We’re here to help brands solve the systemic challenge of developing premium pet food that delivers both optimal nutrition and palatability." A staff member explained to visiting clients at the exhibition. This confidence stems from DSM-Firmenich’s recent strategic decision: amid the large-scale restructuring involving the divestment of its Animal Nutrition & Health (ANH) business, pet food was not only retained—but explicitly designated as one of the four key growth platforms within the Taste, Texture & Health (TTH) division. To understand DSM-Firmenich’s presence at the 2026 Asia-Pacific Pet Expo, it’s essential to revisit the strategic realignment the company underwent over the past six months. In February this year, DSM-Firmenich announced an agreement with CVC Capital Partners to sell its Animal Nutrition & Health (ANH) business for an enterprise value of approximately €2.2 billion. This move sparked speculation in the market: Was this century-old company—originally built on vitamins and animal nutrition—exiting the animal-related market altogether? However, as DSM-Firmenich’s 2025 Annual Report was published and subsequent initiatives rolled out, the picture became clear: DSM-Firmenich is not exiting the animal sector—but rather, through top-level strategic design, has decisively distinguished between two fundamentally different commercial pathways: traditional animal feed versus premium pet food. According to its official website and annual report, DSM-Firmenich was formed in 2023 through the merger of DSM and Firmenich, achieving sales of €12.521 billion in fiscal year 2025. In its recent strategic repositioning, pet food has been explicitly identified as one of the core growth platforms within the Taste, Texture & Health (TTH) division. Meanwhile, Veramaris® Pets—the microalgae-based nutrition brand—remains fully integrated into the Group, continuing to supply key ingredients both internally and externally to support human and pet food applications. The elevated strategic status is most tangibly reflected in dedicated investments on the manufacturing side. Following the launch in October 2025 of its next-generation, pet-exclusive premix factory in Tonganoxie, Kansas (USA), DSM-Firmenich’s dedicated pet food manufacturing network continued expanding. In May 2026, the company announced the official commissioning of its new pet-specific premix factory in Brazil—making Brazil the third country—after Europe (Haag, Austria) and the USA—to host a fully independent pet food production facility, entirely separate from its animal feed production lines. The Tonganoxie facility features 100% automated micro-ingredient dosing and full-batch traceability systems, capable of handling vitamins, carotenoids, omega-3 fatty acids, trace minerals, fruit-and-vegetable powders, and microbiome solutions—covering formulations for foundational nutrition, growth, maintenance, premium, and functional pet foods. The newly commissioned Brazilian facility represents a critical step in the company’s global capacity expansion strategy, aimed at strengthening localized service capabilities and supply chain responsiveness across Latin America. From Europe to North America and now South America, this series of independent manufacturing investments signals that the growth story of pet food has moved beyond strategic positioning—it is now concretely embedded in a globally distributed production system covering major markets worldwide.
